They passed a little beggar girl
Walked right into McDonalds.
The little girl, the age of his,
Yet, she had know life’s sorrows.
When they had finished eating
And stepped again outside,
The golden arch behind them.
The beggar caught his eye.
She sat there on the curb,
Too young to be alone.
He handed her a happy meal
His daughter gave her cone.
She smiled and said “thank you”
Change was what she sought.
Yet, quickly ate the contents
Of everything he bought.
You may not like this poem
Judgments can be made.
Who gives a hungry child,
McDonald’s you might say?
Ice cream in a cone?
Can’t take away her cares!
A “happy meal”?! The irony!
One wonders how he dares!
But on that day two small girls,
Are effected by how he lives.
One girl had enough to eat,
The other learned to give.
